Commercial 1

Re-code.com was a free web service that allowed its customers to share product information and create barcodes that could be printed and used to 're-code' items in stores by placing new labels over existing UPC symbols, setting a new price. This kind of tactical shopping did not last long after the site went online in March 2003. Ten days later Re-code.com received a cease and desist letter from the world's largest retail employer, Wal-Mart. At this time there were counted up to 96.000 hits per hour.
