A38 – Production Grant Kassel-Halle 2006
Announcement
The production grant A 38 had been awarded to young up-and-coming media and film artists in cooperation with the Kassel Dokumentarfilm- und Videofest. Both institutions actively support and accompany the creative process and the realization of the stipendiaries' projects.
A38 is the name of the soon to be finished highway that will connect Halle and Kassel. Cooperation between the Kassel Dokumentarfilm- und Videofest and Werkleitz has a tradition of many years, and it is based on the mutual interest in socially and societally relevant media art. The prodcution grant A 38 succeeds the previous mutual project grant.
The Production Grant
Within a time span of three months, an audio-visual work shall be developed
and produced. Both film and installation formats are allowed. The grant
holder has to live in Kassel and/or Halle as the purpose of the Production
Grant is to engage with these provincial towns. Starting time for the Grant
is January 2008, deadline for finishing the artwork is September 2008.
In the initial phase, the grant holder will investigate the German-German
realities of both locations in order to develop a theme for his/her
audio-visual art work. During this initial phase – material collection – the
grant holder may do research in Kassel and/or Halle. Ideally the grant
holder will prepare and implement his/her project in Kassel. However, it is
also possible to produce the art work in both places. Postproduction will
ideally take place in Halle.
Benefits
The three-months production grant includes 3000 € to cover living expenses and production costs, up to 1000 € for travel expenses, and up to an equivalent of 4000 € in material support. For the use of existing technical equipment, see equipment loans.
The premiere of the finished art work will take place at the upcoming Kasseler Dokumentarfilm- und Videofest, followed by a presentation in Halle.
A38 is funded by the Austauschfonds Ost-West der Kulturstiftung des Bundes. There are no further grants planned at this time.
